Joan's Spartan copper creamer and pitcher

Joan's parents liked things polished, when she was growing up. Much of the weekend was spent sweeping up their cottage and making sure copper was ready for serving company. Now she lets her cream and sugar sit in the window, or out on the garden steps in Spring, as if they call to her: "Cut me a crop of wildflowers and watch my patina grow like the bark of the forest floor." The idea occurs to her every once in awhile to take out her polishing rag, but soon that thought is shown the back door, for exiting politely.
